Sandwich Women’s Club September Meeting

Opiod ProblemThe Sandwich Women’s Club is pleased to announce that its September Meeting will feature a panel of experts and parents to discuss the Addiction Epidemic on Cape Cod. Addiction Prevention, Harm Reduction and Law Enforcement, as well as Treatment and Recovery, will all be discussed.

The event will be held on Monday, September 19 at the Daniel Webster Inn in downtown Sandwich from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

Please join us for an educational and eye-opening evening.

Donations are NEEDED for the Sandwich Women’s Club UpScale Yard Sale! Please take a peek around your home in the coming 3 weeks….we ALL have prospective donations.

Volunteers Needed: set up, staff, and clean up
Friday, August 26: Meet in afternoon to load the truck with donations and tables (approx. 2 hours from 4-6pm)
Sat: 7-10am (set up/sell), 9am-12pm (sell, organize), 12-2pm (pack up/clean up/possibly drop left overs elsewhere in town)

Donations in Advance: We have a storage facility at Anchor Storage. Larger items which you must get out beforehand can be brought to Kathy Kelly’s storage facility too.

Housewares (things you would see at Home Goods)
Garden and patio accessories

People know us around town for putting on a fabulous sale with lots of good stuff and no junk. This is a fun event to work and to socialize with other SWC members

Touch-A-Truck

WHAT: 17th Annual Touch-A-Truck
WHERE: Sandwich High School, 365 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537
WHEN: Sunday, June 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Rain Date: June 12th)
WHO: Children and their parents will be able to touch, sit in, climb on, and learn about unique trucks and vehicles.
COST: $5.00 per child; adults are FREE.

TRUCKS AND VEHICLES: This year’s participants will include construction equipment, emergency vehicles, a school bus, the book mobile, and a “Roamin’ Railroad” to tour the entire event, among many, many more.

CHILDREN’S FAIR: Fair will feature face painting, live animals, music and dance performances, a candy drop, and more!

TRUCK STOP CAFÉ: Enjoy a moment to sit down for lunch, snacks and beverages, all available to purchase at our infamous “Truck Stop Cafe.”

How it works:

Bring your NEW or GENTLY USED ITEMS in GOOD REPAIR to swap for something “New to You”. Jackets, Blouses, Pants and Dresses should be on hangers.

Clothing, Bathing Suits, Accessories, Shoes and Jewelry are acceptable. No lingerie, stained or damaged items, please.

Women’s Items Only. No Children’s or Men’s items will be accepted.

Dressing Room space is limited so please dress accordingly if you are planning to try items on.

In the spirit of the Girls Helping Girls. Period. Campaign, please bring a donation of a personal care product to help the clients of the Emerson House Substance Abuse Treatment Center in West Falmouth.

Fun refreshments will be served!

May Program Meeting

The Sandwich Women’s Club is pleased to announce that guest speaker; Janell Hofmann, will discuss Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking at their May Meeting. Please join them for an insightful and enlightening evening. The event will be held on Monday, May 16 at the Daniel Webster Inn in downtown Sandwich from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

Janell Burley Hofmann is a long time volunteer and advocate for survivors and those at risk of human trafficking. Janell has participated in two service trips to Calcutta, India with Made By Survivors, began her blogging career with them and believes in the MBS mission to empower and impact change for girls and women through job training and education.
